Different Types Of Patio Doors For Your Home

If you are adding a patio to your backyard, you are going to want to have an easy way of accessing your patio. It can be easy to access your patio via a patio door. When choosing a patio door installation for your new outside space, you need to think carefully about what you want to get out of your new patio door and how you want it to function.

One Fixed Panel Sliding Glass Door

With this type of sliding glass door, one of the glass panes is fixed in place, and the other moves. For example, if the fixed glass pane is on the right, the left glass pane will slide open to the right in order to allow you access to the outside.

The size of this type of door can vary, from between six to nine feet. These types of glass doors are made out of tempered glass. Once the glass is cut, it can't be cut again. With these types of door, you need to do a great job measuring so that you have an exact fit for your home.

Three Panel Sliding Glass Door

With a three-panel sliding patio door, two of the glass pieces are fixed, and one moves. Generally with this set-up, the two glass panels on either outer edge do not move, they stay in place. The glass pane in the middle is the one that moves. The glass pane in the middle can open and slide to either the right or to the left, depending on how the window is set-up and configured.

This type of set-up allows for a larger view and is a stylish and balanced look.

#3 French Doors

Another option are French doors. French doors are made so that you can swing them into your home or out on the patio. Either way, you need to make sure that you have the space top open up the French doors.

You can install single French doors or you can install double French doors. With double French doors, you have a larger opening and more space to bring things in and out of your home. French doors are energy efficient and strong.

When choosing doors for your patio, think about what type of view that you want to have. Consider how much space you have, and how you want to be able to use that space both inside and outside of your home. Also, think about the energy efficiency properties of any door that you install.
